Joe Bowers Project

HFR Solutions purchase electric wheelchair for Joe Bowers

Joe Bowers suffered terrible burns and spent months in hospital after being rescued from a house fire | HFR Solutions Charity ProjectJoe Bowers, an 18-year-old from Rotherham, suffered terrible burns and spent months in hospital after being rescued from a house fire in 2001. Joe has faced a great deal in his life so far, such as having to endure plastic surgery, facial reconstruction as well as muscle transplants and as a result, is wheelchair bound. Through our close working relationship with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, our colleague Ian Marritt became aware of a heart-warming story of a young boy who had been seriously burnt in a fire.

Joe was later adopted by Phil and Tracy and their loving family and also won the Spirit of Fire Award in 2015 for his bravery.

HFR Solutions CIC provided funding to help the family purchase an electric wheelchair for Joe. The chair will massively improve Joe’s quality of life – but it costs several thousand pounds and his foster parents say they would not have been able to afford it without the help of HFR Solutions.

Joe’s Dad, Phil commented “We would like to personally thank Steve and John from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, who have been close to Joe and family for a long time now, as well as Ian from HFR Solutions CIC and their partners such as VolkerRail and Centrica who have kindly help fund this for Joe”.

We provided funding to help with purchase an electric wheelchair for Joe - HFR Solutions Charity Project South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue have been extremely supportive of Joe and his family and have helped in any way they can. As previously mentioned, HFR Solutions CIC have a good close working relationship with our colleagues at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and having been made aware of Joe’s story, have been able to help fund an electric wheelchair for Joe, which will improve this quality of life.
